"Rango got bad-o!"
by Lee Waltrip
|
Monday March 7th, we decided to go back to Brendan Theatre for 5 bucks show. However they won't let you know
ahead of time for the show starting. Thanks for showing up to the Bears movie night are Cliff, Nelson, Dan and
Greg, and Lee. We all decided to have dinner first which we stopped by The Red Steer. They used to have
business somewhere in downtown Modesto and Turlock. Now, they are next door to the movie. Very good meat,
but little pricey on the cost.
The movie is called Rango. It's about the lizard who thought he is off to Hollywood, but stranded in the desert
by a speed bump. He pretend that he is one of the tough guy and being a hero (hint, reason why going to Hollywood).
The whole town believed him and turned him into the Sheriff. But at the end was about save the water, save the town.
It wasn't that much funnier that I thought it would be because there was some odd jokes and characters there.
I asked the bears to see how they ranked this movie... They all was pleased that they paid for 5 bucks for it
because it wasn't worth it to see more. Some said that they should waited to see it on dvd. My pick was
okay... so it's 50/50. Hope to see you guys next month! HUGGY!

"IBR 17"
by Woody
|
Going to the International Bear Readeavous 2011 at Parc 55 Hotel set a milestone and become a historical event.
Reason I say that, it is their last bear run to be held in Feburary at San Francisco after 17 wonderful
years to raised and support the organizations. From what I heard, the ecomony really hurt us with
lack of funding and bears that have finanical difficulties which made the IBR committee decided to end.
I arrived fully energric and ready to see old bears and hopefully to meet some new ones
(Letting them know that Bears of Central California is here!). Thursday was really bad in rain but I manage to
survive by all the hot furry bears to warm me up with lots of bear hugs. Thursday night was pretty much meet and
greet and getting to know everyone. We have bears from all over; West Coast, Boston, Florida, and international
such as Canada and Australia. I got to spent some times with the Boston Bears for dinner.
Friday morning I missed seeing the historic bear flag raising at the Castro St. in SF due to bad rain in the morning
(I didn't want to get wet and mildew all over my woody bark). But I managed to go to the IBR store and Vendor Maul to see
if there was anything I could not live without. The IBR Stor has been selling alot of pervious IBR supplys in great deals
and some people told me it's very value if you buy it and save it for the future. I then headed off to the Vendor Maul
to see what great products were there. First off to my good friend Killer Bob Graphics, He have a brand new design that
is a real killer design (To bad they don't have extra extra extra small to fit over my woody belly). There was a new
vendor called KubCakes... very delicious desserts. And a new website that look like Face book called Bear Book...
alot of new bears on there... Hmm, wonder if Woody will get alot of requests? Plus many other vendor. OH, I forgot to
mention that we have our bears from our club, Rob and Damon doing the Bears Messages! From what I heard of...
they are booked!
Friday night is the Sister's Bingo. They are a hoot! They been very motivated and has been raising alot of money
for a good cause for no matter where they are at. And for the first time in Woody years, I finally won at the bingo!
Inside the prize bag had some calendar, coupons to buy, teddy bears, and porns. What I'm surprised is that one of the
porn have our bear board officer in it... TAZ!!! Hehehe... Wonder who TAZ is from our club. After bingo is over,
they having SWEAT dance for free to the IBR attendances. They dance and party hard. But I got to do my volunteer to
support the club to the Bear Hopsitality area on the top floor at midnight to 3am. Great way to relax and they have
great view from the top of the hotel.
Saturday came and still in rainy and foggy weather. First thing in the morning to CLUB DAY!!! Woody is out there to
show off the club bear banner, hand outs and website/facebook to the bears and letting them know that Bears of
Central California is here! I even took picture of myself to see how good I look. It was more busier than last year
and got to talk to alot of people. The other clubs are there to present themselves are Northwesten Bears, Orgeaon Bears,
Sacramento Valley Bears, Bears of San Diego and us Bears of Central California. I guess all the club on west coast want
to show out at the IBR. I been giving out some information on how our events went and goes, what to look for this coming
year and what new events that we are excited to have! They are impressed that we are only couple years old and have
that many members that stay together. Yeehaw to us! When club day is over, it's raffle times over at the EAGLE from the
contestants which it's part of their duties. Then went back to the host hotel to take few hours of nap and head off
to eat dinner with friends. Later that night is Dances to the 80s!!! OH MY GOSH!!! I know so much of the songs and I
just dance my sweats off! Hehehe. Hope I don't catch milddew on my woody chest. At midnight, volunteer time!
Sunday came with bright sun coming in my hotel room... wow, got to be kidding? Sunny??? Great day to get out and hit to
Castro for some shopping and have some Bears at Starbucks! It's good to see the huge bear flag hung up in the air
waving and letting the people in SF know that we are invading the town! My friend asked me to do double shift for
security guard for the contest to midnight so I go for it. The contest which began with a great clip of all the officer
doing some movie scenes which it's very funny. The contest which it's begin with the contestants info with their
undies ... some are hot, some are... okay. Then next round is the question and answer round... some are good, some are
awful and the last one is TOTALLY funny! And lastly... the winner. I know two bears out of four! My friends which is
Craig from midwest won the Mr. Daddy and Paul from Seattle won Mr. IBR BEAR! Other two is who I couldn't remember is
from SF who won the cub and from LA who won the Grizzley. You can look up on bosf.org for more info. Contest is
officially over and moved on to UNDERWEAR DANCE! I didn't go because it's close to my volunteer time shift at Midnight
for the last time!
Monday came and it's sad to say good bye to all the bear fellas. I may see some for the gay days at Disneyland...
other may be attending for Lazy Bear Weekend this August! At least I got alot of good time and memories for all the
IBR events that I attended. If you didn't get to go ... check out the website with all the news and photos.

"The Eagle"
by Lee Waltrip
|
Howdy Y'all. We had a movie night last Feb. 11th at the Showplace movie theatre at Manteca.
First of all I like to say thank you for 9 Bears that showed up! And those nine bears are Rob and Damon,
Robert, Mike M., Gregg, Mike S., Matt, Coy, and myself. They had an optional to eat before or after,
the three bears decided to eat at the Red Robin Resturant that is right next to the movie theatre.
From what I heard that they had the bottomless seasonal fries and they ate alot of those!
We went to see the showed called "The Eagle". It have the star name Channing Tatum in it. He is one
very hot fella that is so close to see him naked (roman tighty whitey). The movie is more like learning
the history of the roman empire and trying to capture the truth about the past and many don't believe it's there.
So he have his "slave" to go with him for translate, but it didn't go what he expected. Overall, it's about
believe and trust.
After the movie is over, I did little a gathering and see what the bears think about the movie. I got 9 double
bears thumb up! They like the action, shirtless guys, and yes there is bears there too! Hope to see you guys
at the next movie night. HUGGY!

"Bumpy Ride"
by Lee Waltrip
|
First of all, I like to say thanks to those guys who showed up at the Bears Movie Night:
Dan and Greg, Mike O., Mike S., Matt (First time), Nelson (First time), Randall (First time), and myself.
Yes, we went back to Monday Night because it's five bucks at Brendan Theaters.
Great deal for those who want to save money and Brendan Theatre doing it Monday to Thursday all day,
all night for five bucks.
The movie we went to see is called Due Date. It has Robert Downey Jr. and Zack from the movie called The Hangover.
Zack and the director had worked together during The Hangover and now back together again for this movie.
This movie is so hilarious and a lot of funny scenes that I thought it just too much that I have to laugh
so hard on it. The movie is about and similar to the old movie Plane, Train, and Automobiles with Steve Martin
and John Candy. They both got kick out the plane and only way to get on other side of the coast is get on the
road trip together. During the road (rage I should said)... it was none stop funny and possible of some shocking
part that I was just can't stop laughing.
Go see the movie and it's worth it even for high price. There is a part that I didn't know that thing cans
do it and it's too funny to talk about it. I rather let you guy watch the movie and see if you know what I'm
talking about.

"The Start of Winter"
by Greg Flores
|
It seems that without warning, Winter is upon us. The sound of rain on the roof and the blowing of the
cold North Wind. Winter almost caught us by our furry tails. We had just made it back to our perspective dens
from the 2nd Annual Pre-Hibernation Camp Out, when the rains started.
Oct. 15, 2010 was the start of the 2nd Annual BOCC Pre-Hibernation Camp Out, a couple of us arrived at the
camp ground on Thursday, to get in some extra time around the camp fire. Most everyone else showed up on Friday.
I had gone out on Thursday to setup a hospitality tent. A place for everyone to gather for meeting others
and sharing a drink or two. Unfortunatley I had to work that afternoon, so I was not able to stay.
I returned to the camp site on friday evening after I got off work. The weather for both thursday and friday
was pleasant. Warm and sunny during the day, with cool star lit nights that followed. Saturday, however,
was a different story.
Clouds arrived early Saturday Morning, being pushed by the winds and bringing the threat of rain. Everyone
was uneffected by the thought of getting wet, everyone except me. I had just completed the assembly of a rather
large canvas canopy a few days earlier, the Hospitality Tent. But, I had not had a chance to waterproof it.
I once again had to return to town for work on Saturday, but was able to make it back to the camp out by
7:30 or so. Steaks, potato salad, and fire roasted ears of corn made quite the meal. After which I had a couple
of drinks and relaxed for the rest of the night. Most everyone at this years campout had made it to the hospitality
tent for sharing of some rather interesting conversation. "Have I ever been caught doing what? and by whom?"
Well . . .
Sunday Morning saw a whirl of clean up and laughter. I have to say, that for the most part a great weekend
was had by all. I counted approximately 20 camping bears, with another 2 or 3 day-time attendees. There was
even someone that arrived just as the last few people were leaving.
Thank You, everyone for making this years camp out better than the last. Can it be done again next year?

"Hot Papi"
by Lee Waltrip
|
Well I guess it's a bad timing or not many bears are into that type of movie that I selected for
Friday, Sept. 10th. The movie I picked called Machete. I am the only one who was there and waited
til 7pm to see anyone show up... nope. So I went in and check it out.
This is the actor's 'Danny Trejo' first lead acting role after so many small roles in many many movies.
Finally he got his own movie. For those bears who like latin daddy... he is one hot papi!!! Nice nipples.
Anyway, about the movie, I thought it was about saving his family, but eventually it's more of political
issues about Mexican and across the boarders and immigrations. It was too much for me, but what I do
like is the action and the fights of the movie. The director did really good on the picture just like the
Grind house movies.
What I hated the most about that movie is one actress... Lindsey Lohan. Full Blown NUDE!!! Yes, she is
totally pale looking skinny nude and about to do lesbian scene. I almost puke right there in the theatre.
What I do like is the other actress... Jessica Alba. She totally kick ass. Great body and hardcore fighter.
Now I know why the bears didn't want to see that movie... So I don't blame them. So for my rating on this
movie is 50/50 because I do like the picture, but do not like the storyline. Rumor is that they are talking
about making part two and three already. So, watch out for the Machete out in the field.
Our next movie night in October will be cooperating with the PFLAG film festival on Saturday October 9th
at the State Theatre in Downtown Modesto. Rumor is they will be showing one bear movie.

"A Night of Pride"
by Greg Flores
|
Last week I had received a phone call from a gentleman by the name of Len Raveli (sp?). He extended an invitation
to the BOCC to attend a BBQ on the evening of the 17th, this evening. I inquired if we needed to bring anything,
his response was only if we wanted to.
The email went out, and I received only four or five replies. I have got to tell you, if you didn't go, you really
missed out. there were upwards of 60 to 80 people in attendence. The BBQ was hosted by PFLAG and there was so much
food there, and enough desserts to send an entire hospital diabetic ward to go into shock.
I knew a number of the people there, but there were a good majority that I did not. Even though I was the only bear
there wearing our shirt, our group had a good showing. Thank you to Stan and Mike from Merced, Dan, Patrick,
Nelson from Modesto, and Al from Lathrop.
It was a great evening and a lot of new friendships were formed.
Did I mention that it was a Great Evening.

"The Bearables"
by Lee Waltrip
|
Ah yes, finally a "Guy" movie to watch and enjoy. First of all, I would like to say thanks to Richard, Don, and
Mike, and I brought a friend of mine from Sac. to join the event. The movie we watched is called "The Expendables".
The movie is directed by Sly (Sylvester Stallone), his goal, to bring all the action heroes from the 80s and 90s
to put together for a big action show. Well, it worked. I was amazed based on their gun powers and bombs that
they created. Very loud and edge off of your seat. Great fights that I never seen before between actors.
Plus they manage to put a humor with other star included.
The movie is about putting together a team to help save some country. Main thing is to trust each other and be
a team player. Never leave anyone alone. The movie is so good that it received 4 bear paws up
(I even took my straight bear with me to see that movie, and he loves it).
Our next Movie Night is on Friday Sept. 10th... The movie that we are going to see is "Machete".
The location... thinking to change or not. Let me know what you think?
